ScaLAPACK 1.8 does not work with the SGI SDSM (BLACS) so the NETLIB version of BLACS needs to be used. Additionally, ScaLAPACK uses LAPACK utility routines which are not in MKL prior to version 8.0.

Add +intel-mkl81 to your .soft file to make sure your environment have MKL 8.1 in it.
Soft keys will be added for ScaLAPACK in the near future.

The following shows the use of the Intel 9.0 compiler (which is currently the default compiler). If you are using the Intel 9.1, simply replace references to 90 with 91 in the following and you will be able to use ScaLAPACK 1.8 with BLACS using the Intel 9.1 compiler.

For fortran main program:
Compile with: ifort -O -ftz -g
Link with:
-L /usr/apps/math/scalapack/scalapack-1.8/lib -lscalapack-INTEL90 -L /usr/apps/math/scalapack/blacs/lib -lblacsF77init_MPI-INTEL90-0 -lblacs_MPI-INTEL90-0 -lblacsF77init_MPI-INTEL90-0 -L /usr/local/intel/mkl/8.1.014/lib/64 -lmkl_lapack -lmkl_ipf -lguide -lpthread -lmpi
